Fire Safety Self-Inspection Program

The Verdigris Fire Department is committed to the continued fire and life safety of your business. In order to ensure a fire safe environment in your workplace we are enlisting you to participate in our annual Self-Inspection Program.

This program targets businesses that are statistically at a lower risk from fire. By participating in this program, it allows our department to ensure your compliance with the fire code, but allows you to perform the required inspection at your convenience and has the added benefit of reducing disruptions and inspection costs for your business.

Performing the Self-Inspection of your business is relatively easy. The inspection is for your space only and doesn't include any common area or space shared with other tenants or business owners unless you are the primary business owner.

The following questions are required, please select one of the choices.

Are the Address Numbers for this occupancy clearly visible and facing the street so my building can be found in an emergency?
When the building is occupied, are all exit doors unlocked from the inside so people can get out in an emergency?
Are the emergency back up lights and exit lights working?
Are all exits clearly marked and well lighted so people can find their way out?
Are all aisles, hallways, doors, stairs, landings, fire escapes, and other walkways free of any obstructions that might block a quick escape?
Have all fire extinguishers been serviced by a properly trained technician. (Does the Owner/Occupant perform monthly inspections to ensure proper pressure and check for damage)?
Are all of your electrical appliances connected to an outlet or power strip with circuit breaker protection?
Are all furnace, electrical, and storage rooms free of waste paper, rubbish, and other combustibles?
