A Car Accident During An Ice Storm Firefighters Preparing To Make Entry Semi Rollover at Terra Nitrogen Our Team Of Firefighters!
This exercise allows firefighters to gain experience operating in confined spaces. Firefighters must advance through the tunnel in full SCBA gear until they reach a horizontal steel bar halfway through the tunnel. The firefighter must then unstrap from the SCBA, and make their way around the bar. Finally, the firefighter must roll back into the SCBA and strap back in. Upon completion of these task, the firefighter can continue forward and exit the tunnel. These firefighters are learning how to recognize a flashover before it happens. The tempertures present during this training can reach high enough levels to melt faceshields in a matter of seconds. These firefighters are learning how to recognize a flashover before it happens. Part of being a firefighter is knowing how to enter a house and search for victims in the safest manner possible. These firefighters are about to enter into a blackend room with zero visibility to search for a downed firefighter in a training exercise. When this semi rolled over near the entrance to Terra Nitrogen, VFD crews and Terra Haz-Mat teams worked for hours to safely neutralize the situation. Firefighter's must be equipped to handle any emergency, day or night, rain or shine.
